Overview

What a fantastic morning spent on the beach, the venue is all set up to hoist you into the Beach wheelchair from your own chair. the Beach wheelchair can be self operated or depending on your level of disability you can be driven by your carer if required. I found the welcome from the young lady at the Beach hut to be, very warm and she put any fears or trepidation that I may have had at rest straight away. the experience was like driving my car once again after having to stop driving only 3 years ago, when I was unable to get in and out of my car.

Transport & Parking

Limited beach disabled parking as in any other town country wide, But the 600 yard walk round to the beach hut in the harbour.

Access

The signage was excellent and we managed the walk round the well paved pavement and then onto the cobbles which were easily manageable into the harbour, the views from either beach are fantastic when in the beach wheelchair and there is regularly spaced seating and the harbour wall can also be used should you need a rest.

Toilets

The Seabird centre is about a 400 yard walk to get to the disabled toilet and although not the biggest were clean enough and easily accessible. there were grab rails and enough space for your carer should they be required.

Staff

The young lady at the Beach hut made us very welcome and unlike so many other people I have had dealings with, she kept me and not my carer informed at every stage of what we were about to do. She also made me feel very safe and secure with my problems with anxiousness.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

A magnificent venture that is well organised and requires support from Disabled people, whenever they are in North Berwick, worth planning a day trip just for this experience alone, forgetting all of the fantastic resteraunts and shopping available in North Berwick. Great and exciting morning spent on the beach which I never thought I would experience again.
