Overview
Great service. Hiring a beach wheelchair meant I was able to get on the beach for the first time since I've been in a wheelchair. Run by volunteers. A hoist is available to assist with transfers. The services is free but donations welcome.
Transport & Parking
A few spaces to park down at the harbour.
Access
To use the service, all you need to do is ring them in advance to check that one of the chairs will be available. You arrange a time and then meet one of the volunteers who meets you there and issues the chair. Update: As of 2 June 2016 there is a hoist available to assist with transfers. All you need to do is bring your own sling.
Toilets
None. Accessible loo available at the nearby Scottish Seabird Centre.
Staff
Fantastically friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Great project. Fun afternoon out – give it a go! The big, soft, balloon wheels might look odd but give an incredibly smooth ride. The chairs are good on dry or wet sand, shallow water or pavement.
