Overview
As a wheelchair user, I feel keeping myself in good shape is vital and to do so, I attend the gym at the Leisure Centre multiple times a week. However, I feel the need to tell you that this gym may only be suitable for you if like myself, you have the ability to come out of your wheelchair and transfer onto the equipment. This is because the majority of equipment inside the gym requires the user to be seated on them. I'm not saying if you cannot transfer, don't go to this gym, but you would be limited to just using dumbbells, etc...
Transport & Parking
There are 4-5 disabled parking spaces right outside the centre so there should be no real issues in terms of that.
Access
Access is fine, no lift ride is required to access the gym. As soon as you go in the front door, you will see the gym which has no steps/bumps or any obstacles to get over.
Toilets
There are two accessible toilets. One on the top and one on the bottom floor. Both pretty easy to find. The toilet on the top floor is located beside the cafe and the one on the bottom is located in the changing area, outside of the sports hall. There are signs informing you of this. Both toilets are very spacious with grab rails and reachable emergency cords.
Staff
Staff are friendly and will always greet you on your way in and way out. Receptionists are chatty and pleasant.
