Overview
A quirky old hotel with very friendly staff! Some accessibility issues but overall a good stay!
Transport & Parking
There is one Blue Badge space on a 'first come, first served' basis which was always taken when we were there. You can pre book a space for £5 per night which is in the same small car park so isn't any further away. Rear access from the car park with a ramp and an intercom for opening the door.
Access
There are 5/6 steps to the front of the hotel, access for wheelchairs is at the back. Level access to bar, reception and entertainment area. Lift to all floors but many steps in the corridors so check when booking that your room is near to the lift for level access. There is a well equipped disabled room but it's down a few steps so access was from the rear car park. Not sure why it was there as the room we stayed in (127) was huge with plenty of space. The shower in our room had a step though to get in, the disabled room downstairs had a well equipped bathroom so there are choices depending on your level of disability. 6 steps down to the dining room, a stairlift is available and there was always waiters available to carry my chair down so I never found it a problem.
Toilets
There was an accessible toilet by the other toilets. Fairly large but not big enough to transfer from the right hand side.
Staff
All,staff were exceptionally helpful! From the receptionists to the housekeeping staff, all couldn't do enough to help!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The one 'disabled' room was down 4/5 steps and had to be accessed via the back car park, we were offered it but declined as didn't want to go outside each time.
