Overview
The Battersea Park Children's Zoo's keeper experience gives people a chance to interact with, learn about and help look after animals in the zoo. Adjusting the experience to meet my partner's access needs was incredibly straightforward; they provided chairs in several of the enclosures so she could sit while feeding animals, shortened the length of the experience so she would have the energy to do everything she wanted to do (and commensurately reduced the price), and the keeper who organised the experience was incredibly friendly, understanding and supportive. I'm not sure how the keeper experience would work in a wheelchair; several of the enclosures have steps to get in and out, but given how helpful staff were with adjusting our experience to meet access needs I would imagine they can be just as accommodating for other people. Generally, access at the zoo seems very good, there are two short set of steps at one end of the park, but there are alternate step-free routes that go through exhibits and enclosures, and there is no section of the park that is off limits, or even appears unusually difficult to get to, in a wheelchair, aside from some of the short ramps in and out of houses being steep.
