Overview
This was my first visit to Bathhouse Tattoos following Luke and @gordonkillin moving from Petal Faced Gypsy to new premises. When Luke told me he was moving to a new studio that used to be a public toilet, dating back to the 1920s, at my last session with him, I was a bit worried. Yes worried. Would the smell of stale pee and disinfectant still be lingering….thankfully I am pleased to say it hasn’t. Nor does it retain the look of a well used public convenience. The building has been completely overhauled with fresh white rendering externally. A large entrance that even a mobility scooter could get through leading into a wide corridor with a lounge at one end and studio with two chairs at the end. In the middle is an outward opening accessible bathroom with a fixed grab rail to one side of the toilet and a drop down grab rail on the other side. The sink, mirror and hand drier are all at wheelchair height. There is an emergency pull-cord which is due to be fitted in the near future. Luke and Gordon are experienced in working with wheelchair users and people with chronic pain who may need to adopt non-traditional positions for being tattooed. Bathhouse Tattoos is a very disability friendly studio and are more than happy to work around what your individual needs are whether that means having no background music, or having to face a particular way they will do their best to accommodate where they can if they are given advance notice.
Transport & Parking
There is over 20 parking places straight outside the building lining the street and dedicated disabled parking at the far end of the street and around the corner opposite of TK Maxx. However if you have a blue badge you can park straight outside for free. There is also regular bus service passing by.
