Overview
A wheelchair accessible Boardwalk over swampy marshes and through woods. It's full of wildlife and leads out to the open Barton broad. It is in a very peaceful quiet place in the Norfolk broads and absolutely magical. Somewhere really off the beaten track that is accessible, there are resting places if people need them and tapping edges. There are Braille signs and an accessible car park. It is all free and is a real hidden place of beauty in the broads. You do need a car to get there, but it is well worth the trip there.
Transport & Parking
A free car park just for blue badge holders which leads right to the Boardwalk. It is a but tricky to find, but is in Neatishead Norfolk, NR12 8XP.
Access
The Boardwalk is wheelchair accessible, I have a big power chair and it was no problem for that. There is also a special surface on the Boardwalk to prevent those people who are walking from slipping. There are Braille signs around the Boardwalk, there are also tapping edges and lots of resting places. It is well maintained too.
Toilets
The accessible toilets are a short distance in a different car park, there are no changing places facilities, but there are grab rails and it is fairly large in size. It isn't in the accessible car park, but it is by closely to drive to.
Staff
We didn't meet another person there, it is in the woods and there are no staff working there, if you needed help or questions there is a phone number to contact.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It is a real treat to find somewhere so beautiful, natural and peaceful to go to as a wheelchair user. If you are a bird watcher or just love nature and the outdoors it's really lovely. There are no shops or facilities nearby, so if you needed food or drink, it's best to take your own. We spent a really magical afternoon there.
