Overview

It was two years since we last flew into Barcelona Airport but when I heard from the airport that they were getting two Eagle Lifters we booked a holiday straight away. For two years in the hope the airport would get an Eagle I done a lot of research into accommodation and we knew where we were going to stay, (MICs Sant Jordi) but that is another review. The airport PRM team had never done a live lift before as I was the first WCHC that arrived since they had their training. I have my own Eagle sling so when the PRM team came in to take me out of my seat it was done in under a minute. The cabin crew on the Easyjet aircraft couldn't believe the speed it all happened. Not having your own sling is not an issue as a sling can be put on in 2/3 minutes. I can highly recommend the PRM team at Barcelona airport, who are a very friendly and respectful PRM team.

Transport & Parking

No parking needed as we arrived on a flight. On our first visit to Barcelona a friend who is Spanish booked a WAV taxi for us. Because I’m tall and I have a big wheelchair the taxi was very snug. Don’t let that put you off because the service was very good. On our return back to the airport we took the Aerobus, one tip try to get it from a stand and not a bus stop as you are guaranteed a place and you are not rushed, but they do run about every 10 minutes. The metro is at the airport but we have not used it there as the Aerobus is so easy.

Access

As a power chair user we found it very easy to get around the airport and the staff are really friendly if you need any help. Lots of signage and a lift nearby for every stairs/escalator.

Toilets

The one toilet I used was easy to find really big inside and very clean with a fresh smell. It had all the equipment a disabled person would need the only down side it had no mobile hoist or a ceiling hoist for a person like me who can’t transfer.

Staff

The PRM team were very efficient when we arrived into Barcelona and met us at the Easyjet check in desk when we arrived at the airport for the return trip. Going through security can be very regimental but we had a great laugh with the man doing my security check. Overall any staff we had dealings with were very friendly and helpful.
