Queer (18) (AD)
Daniel Craig ventures through sexuality, psychedelics and the jungle in Luca Guadagnino's adaption of The Beat Generation novella.
Set in the 1950s in Mexico City, Queer follows an outcast American expat named William Lee (Daniel Craig) who one day spots younger man Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey) in town and quickly becomes infatuated with him. Craig is on top form here and is supported by a phenomenal cast including Starkey, Lesley Manville and Jason Schwartzman.
With a back catalogue including Call Me By Your Name (2017), Suspiria (2018) and Challengers (2024), Director Luca Guadagnino has become known for producing stylish, intoxicating and thoroughly fresh work, and Queer is no exception. The film is beautifully shot with a powerful soundtrack including Nirvana’s Come As You Are and has music by composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network). An absolute must-see on the big screen.
Based on the 1985 novel by William S. Burroughs
