Fabulous Afternoon Tea

Overview
This country house hotel is located near Basingstoke in Hampshire. We had a afternoon tea & were very pleased with the whole experience. Wheelchair access to the main part of the hotel is via a ramp to the right of the main door. You ring a door bell & someone comes to let you in. All the staff were wonderful & couldn't have been more helpful. We found access around the ground floor easy & there was a huge, clean disabled loo near reception. We had booked in advance, so were given a lovely table near the window with one chair removed so the wheelchair could go straight up to the table which was the perfect height. There was a choice of luxury teas & the sandwiches & cakes were very good. The chef was easily able to provide for different diets.
Transport & Parking
There is 1 disabled parking space near the front door. It is intended for loading/unloading, but we were told we could leave our car there beacuse it was a quiet day. I parked in the car park located in the old walled garden. This is near the main entrance & all fairly level so we took the wheelchair back down from the hotel. I think there are more disabled parking bays in the main car park, but I didn't go there.
Access
We only used the main rooms on the ground floor. Access to the hotel for wheelchairs is via a ramp to the right of the main door. You ring a bell & someone lets you in. The staff were very helpful in terms of helping with access.
Toilets
The loo is near reception, large, clean.
Staff
Every member of staff we met was very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, they were cheerful, chatty, kind, well trained & made us feel as if we were valued guests.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We will be visiting again soon for another afternoon tea.
