Overview
I visited Ashfield House for a wedding, being in a wheelchair I checked their website which said they had w/chair access .. (only if you can find the side door (unmarked for wheelchair access) no signage at the front door entrance. My wife had to go inside and ask !! where they went and opened the door after telling her where it was. When inside the venue, there are wide doorways from room to room until to go to the disabled toilets, that's when the fun begins !! a very small toilet room .. I couldn't get my w/chair at the side of the toilet to transfer, very little room to maneuver so had to transfer almost on the edge ... time to wash my hands, nice small sink but when I came to dry my hands ,,, the paper towels were in a wicker basket,, on a shelf above the toilet ... only just in reach,,, but what was more of a concern is no emergency pull cord !! There were plenty of emergency exit signs for abled body people but no signs for a wheelchair emergency exit and as far as we could see only the exit we came in, but the emergency sign is around the corner out of sight on that door ... so poor signage . This place does have bedrooms on the first floor but no lift etc for disabled people ..
