Overview
It's like going into a whole new alien world! Wheelchair accessible. Tickets are timed so you need to book in advance, but disabled and wheelchair users may get to bypass the queues. Carers need to ask for concession (don't be shy) as sometimes staff forget, but usually carers should go in for free. Huge inflatables, zipped up together to make colourful tunnels lit up by natural light. Fabulous sensory experience of lights, colours, and sounds once inside. Architects of Air is based in Nottingham but travels around the UK and rest of the world, so look out for more local destinations.
Transport & Parking
Disabled parking was set up for the event. Offered to get us closer. Extra disabled parking was available as on this occasion it was at Lakeside Arts at Nottingham University.
Access
Ground level access from parking to walking right into the inflatables. No shoes allowed, leave shoes at entrance. Enablers were available on hand if needed.
Toilets
Disabled toilet but no CPT on site.
Staff
Helpful, understanding. Staff running Architects of Air were very welcoming and accommodating.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would definitely recommend to other people, especially for those with sensory needs. Would also definitely go back to an event close to home, or plan a holiday away in nearby location as they set up in different locations around the UK so a chance for a short break away from home. Timed tickets so would love to have more time allowed. Need to map out where to find the nearest Changing Places Toilets for those with pmld or extra care needs.
