Overview
Is it June already? This is when I realised we had not had a 'day out' since November 2021. Both my wife and daughter enjoy gardens. Me? I do as told! That said, I had checked out the website (https://www.archerfieldwalledgarden.com/) and the gardens looked wheelchair friendly so off we set our destination around 40 miles away from home
Transport & Parking
Before visiting, we were advised that there was disabled parking outside the entrance, but we either didn't see or missed signage for these. We parked in the main car park and found the walkway over a bridge very easy to navigate. This led us directly to the entrance to the garden centre and cafe. Note, there is a charge for going round the walled harden that we did and included in this review
Access
I was using my power chair and found the interior of the garden centre and cafe very easy to get around with lots of space between the displays. Where required there were ramps but mostly is was on the flat. Getting around the gardens was also very easy and enjoyable. Ther 'fairy trail' was on the whole accessible although the start was a bit tricky to negotiate.
Toilets
Although I did not need to use them, my wife told me she saw disabled toilets.
Staff
Personally I did not have much interaction with staff but the one I spoke to was informative and helpful. My wife had more dealings with staff and assures me that they were helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
As well as the walled gardens, there were nice walks outside, although the surface at the top was a bit difficult, as per my photo. With this visit taking place in June 2022, Covid precautions were easing, although some staff were, like ourselves, wearing masks I certainly enjoyed te walled garden and 'walks'
