Overview
It is over 23 years since we last visited this site. Then I could walk but on this visit I was using my trusted old wheelchair. Our first surprise was that we only paid for one – I presume my wife got in for nothing as my career. Armed with a map of the park, off we went, armed with the map supplied. I would be lying if I said all of the paths were smooth. Some were easier navigated than others but there was a few ‘wheelchair shaking’ moments. That said, I am grateful for my wife’s perseverance we managed to get to visit the ‘House of Aion’, where we saw an informative video presentation, The House of Dionysos’, where there was a good walkway to go around to view the mosaic decorations. Outside we were able to go past of near most of the other areas of interest. Bearing in mind the age of this site, effort has been made to accommodate the disabled visitor, including an accessible toilet at the entrance.
Transport & Parking
There was a public car park beside the Archaeological Site
Access
Access to the site was very good. Once inside, the ground was a bit rough when going between the areas
Toilets
Although I did not use them, there was an accessible toilet at the entrance. the entrance to wich was flat and the signage was clear.
Staff
Other than getting our tickets (the carer went free) and someone pressing the button for the video show, we did not see any other members of staff.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I thank my wife for her perseverance in getting me round most of the site. Seeing the remains, especially the mosaics was quite awe inspiring. One had to see them to appreciate there condition
