Overview
Assist staff are excellent. They have set area's for wheelchairs, stand alone chairs if you need more room for whatever reason. Access to a disabled toilet. The member of staff helping me checked on me regularly to make sure I was comfortable, was there anything she could get me etc. I was treated very well and it made the whole evening a very enjoyable experience. There is a number to phone to arrange and more information on their website about what is available.
Transport & Parking
We arrived via the underground and the theatre is very near the Victoria Station.
Access
Toilets
There are grab rails, it was clean and tidy and there was room for a carer. It wasn't obvious to me where it was but the very nice assist person showed me the way and unlocked it for me. The key is kept at the cloakroom and the staff were happy to let me use it later when required. I walk with a stick and was in the dress circle so using the stairs to get back to the main foyer where the toilet was wasn't an issue for me. I should say that I chose to be in the dress circle as I felt able to use the number of steps that were there.
Staff
The assist member of staff for the evening found me when I arrived (it hadn't occurred to me to phone and enquire about assists) and proceeded to ensure that my visit to the Apollo was a special one. She was friendly and knew what my concerns would be without me having to voice them. She was able to arrange a more suitable seat for me and regularly checked on me asking if there was anything else she could do for me. She was also assisting others in between times.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would recommend it to others. I can't comment from a wheelchair point of view but I use a stick and was treated exceptionally well.
