Overview
It had been many years since we had stayed at the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee and we did really enjoy our stay. When we got there we did manage to find an unused disable bay in the carpark and took it. The WAV did not move for the next thee days!
Transport & Parking
As mentioned in my intro, there are disabled bays in the car park but perhaps not enough. They are handy for the entrance to the hotel however.
Access
It was really easy to get around the hotel in my powerchair, corridors restaurant etc., When we were staying there one of the lifts was out of action which caused queues to get into the list most of the time. One annoying feature was the height at which the reception desks was at. I had to get my daughter to use the card machine to pay the account, which was annoying. One other thing that annoyed me was the softness of the pillows, but perhaps I ought to have asked if they had firmer ones.
Toilets
Other than the loos in our room, I did not use the others in the hotel. Whilst the one in the room had a drop down rail, I found that it was very close to the wall and sink, which made access difficult. I could not reach the loo roll holder and just used the spare roll because of this.
Staff
The staff in the restaurant were splendid and very helpful regarding getting a table which suited my wheelchair. The ones keeping our room tidy were also very good. I only wish I had been able to say hello to the person who had been so very helpful with getting the accessible room initially.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We found the location of the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa excelllent for getting to the V&A museum as well as the discovery. Also it was only about 10 minutes to get to the Shopping areas and then another 10 minutes to reach the McManus museum
