Overview
This is the second time I've been to BST Hyde Park and it was just as good - if not better! - than our previous visit. The set up is great, the staff have obviously had some great staff training and even the loos are good! The only difficultly for us was the drop off / pick up as my pal's powerchair is too big for the accessibility vehicle so we had to go through Hyde Park - but that has tarmac paths so whilst it is a fair distance it is definitely do-able!
Transport & Parking
Difficulty in finding a good place to drop off and pick up, we couldn't use the accessibility vehicle as my pal's wheelchair is too long for it. But we did see lots of other wheelchair users speeding by on it and it looks a great set up!!
Access
Absolutely brilliant! From when we got to Hyde Park we could clearly see the signs for the Accessible Entrance. The paths in the park are all tarmac so even though it was quite a distance to the entrance it was level access throughout. On arrival it was very swift to get into the venue, there was a bit of a ramp to navigate at the entrance itself then we went through security where bags were checked and got given wristbands that allowed us to access the Wheelchair Accessible viewing platform. The platform is a short distance from the dedicated accessible entrance and was easy to spot with good signage. It was a decent sized platform and there were probably about 100 people on it. There was a great view of the stage and the BSL interpretor too. it was also really handy that people would come round and serve drinks whilst on the platform as the queues were pretty insane! When we did leave the platform we saw that the merchandise and the food outlets had lowered counters which was really helpful.
Toilets
Condsidering we were at a festival - a definite 5*! They were located just at the entrance to the accessible platform and 'fenced off' so that they were available exclusively for people who need an accessible loo. There were lots of them and some of them were bigger than standard which was a bonus!
Staff
Staff absolutely brilliant - again! When we went before, the staff were great and we were made to feel very welcome. This time was just as good. Every staff member that we encountered was helpful and knew where things were. They were also very helpful organising seats on the viewing platform and giving assistance to people when it was needed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Please note these tickets were complimentary from British Summertime as they were keen to find out more about their access.
