Overview
One of the most fun afternoons I've had. Douglas (owner) and Jonathon (head brewer) were awesome! When I say this is a micro brewery, I mean it's micro. The brewing part is literally at the back of the pub. This made it perfect for me, no traipsing around big warehouses, no steps or ladders, we just sat and listened to Jonathon and could see everything from there. Jonathon is very passionate about brewing and the ingredients he uses and that comes across when he talks. Depending on how long you have to spare the experience can last from a couple of hours to his record 4.5hrs! Through out his talk you get to taste & feel the raw ingredients, smell the hops and of course try a beer, or two or nine! Oh and my favourite - the cider! As if all that isn't enough you round off the experience with a mighty serving of steak pie and a pint of your favourite beer from the tasting. I was driving so I got to take my pint home - it turned into 2L of cider - very happy. I took half a star off as the space was very tight for my wheelchair and the toilet was a little basic.
Transport & Parking
Currently the hotel next to the pub is being worked on so there isn't any parking next to it. We parked in a local car park a couple of minutes walk away. I'm not sure how good public transport is to Bridge of Allan.
Access
There is ramped access to the main door, though there is then a step. Douglas had set up a ramp for me round the back - but I'd already got up the step before I knew. Inside the space is tight due to the size of the building, I could imagine on a busy day a wheelchair might be hard to manouver. For people walking there is a small ramp in the middle of the room joining the two buildings, it's small enough to be a trip hazard.
Toilets
Not the best accessible loo, but at least there is one. It's nice and tall and has handrails (thought they were wobbly), not sure you would fit a large electric wheelchair in it.
Staff
Douglas and Jonathon were amazing. So nice and chatty, very attentive. Loved to tell stories about how the beers were invented etc.
