Overview

The entrance to the park, a large wooded area on the edge of the city, is about 15 minutes’ walk/wheel from the northern end of the city centre. Once in the park, the paths are either of well-compacted gravel or brick paving, with some tarmac cycle paths. There is an animal park, popular with children, a floral clock and pleasant shady walking.

Transport & Parking

WNe can’t comment on the parking. The edges of the park are served by wheelchair accessible buses from the city centre, but there was a bus strike the day we visited, so we couldn’t use them.

Access

Good - just a couple of places where you cross roads to get from one area of the park to another, and the drop-downs are a bit bumpy. The paths through the park should be fine for someone self propelling in a manual chair. Access to the facilities at the centre of the animal closure involves passing two heavy gates but other visitors were quick to help with these.

Toilets

We saw no sign of an accessible toilet.
