Overview
I bought tickets for the Carol King musical which in itself is fantastic, but the star of the theatre was the wonderful lady in charge of access. We were a party of four including my wheelchair user son - tickets for disabled people and their accompanying carers are half price. There is a clearly marked disabled entrance, where we were met immediately by a very friendly and extremely well trained lady called Christine - she took us to our seats near the front of the circle where we had very good views - she offered the seat for my son if he wanted to transfer, but he chose to stay in his wheelchair so she promptly with no fuss, removed the theatre seat. We were offered an ordering and waitress service for the interval if we wanted anything. During the interval she offered further assistance by accompanying us to the fully accessible toilets and making sure no one else was using the facilities. At the end of the show she got to us first and we were allowed out before anyone else, making it so much easier.
Transport & Parking
We travelled by train from Sevenoaks to Charing Cross. I had booked disabled assistance but we were early both going to London and coming back. We were met both ends by helpful station staff who were waiting with ramps. There was plenty of space in the designated disabled seating area and the accessible loo was nearby.
Access
There was a lift to the platform.
Toilets
Staff
All efficient and friendly - no fuss, just got on with it.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I was apprehensive as hadn't taken my son up to London on the train since he was a child, but all went smoothly apart from one person with a bike who refused to move it out the way of the ramps at first - the Charing Cross guard soon sorted this in a polite though exasperated way! and pushed my son for me onto the train.
