This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair
Overview
The new slabs outside the train station are what most newcomers to Aberystwyth first see. These uneven slabs make both unsteady walkers and wheelchair users uncomfortable. and they are starting to crack after only a few months use. the new drop curb is good though. much better than not having one at all like before.
Transport & Parking
the train itself is not a friendly one, many time the call for assistance button is faulty and goes of by itself so is often unanswered, as well as the disabled loo doors often needing a swift kick to close. the disabled parking for the station is close to the ramp access.
Access
small doors but helpful staff when there is staff at the station. don't travel on Sundays.
Toilets
as with all train station toilets, its best to give them a miss. yr hen orsaf weather-spoons is right at the end of the platform and have a very nice disabled loo next to the bar. go there instead.
Staff
there is the occasional bad seed, and the fact the call for assistance button is still not fixed after years of being faulty is a bad thing, but the staff themselves are overall very helpful, friendly and willing to assist in any way they can. including carrying your luggage to the taxi rank for you.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
having had expiriance as an assistant and as a person with mobility issues myself I must say there are far worse parts of the town
