Overview
English heritage have gone to great lengths to make Battle Abbey accessible to all - there are some restrictions which are can not be helped; the battle took place on a hill and the Abbey was built on the site of the battle. There is an alternative accessible route and the visitor centre is fully accessible with lift to the lower floor and disabled toilet facilities.
Transport & Parking
Bus stop is right outside, however car parking is down a slope and about 50m from the gatehouse. Would recommend dropping people with mobility issues outside the gatehouse, then parking the car.
Access
Although there is a step into the shop/access point, staff are more than happy to let you though the main car park. The visitor centre and cafe are fully accessible and there are two routes over the battlefield itself - the normal route and the 'accessible' route. The latter is suitable for wheelchairs/mobility scooters etc. but it is a compacted earth path which would be tricky in wet weather. There are two mobility scooters that can be hired.
Toilets
1 disabled toilet near the cafe - this is the only toilet facility I saw.
