Like a real railway but much, much smaller.

Overview
An excellent accessible day out. Travelling on foot from the beach to Peasholm Park station, there were no steps whatsoever; it's all steady uphill pathways and ramps, both into the station and onto the train. The train terminates at Scalby Mills, which is on the side of a steep hill. But again, the whole area seemed to have been built with very much a 'Barrier-Free' ethos - impressive considering the period in which it was designed and built.
Transport & Parking
There are frequent buses from the town centre.
Access
All stations feature ramps, excellent assistance from the staff and wheelchair spaces on each train. Handily for our assistance dog, on what was a very hot week, from our walk from North Bay Sands to Peasholm Park station plenty of shops had put water bowls outside their premises for the refreshment of our lupine companions.
Toilets
Did not use.
Staff
They did exactly what was needed, in a conscientious and professional manner, without being obtrusive or patronising.
