Venue Description

Bentley Priory Museum tells the fascinating story of the beautiful Grade II* listed country house, focusing on its role as Headquarters Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. Explore the important stories of ‘The One’– Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding, ‘The Few’ who took to the air to defend our skies and ‘The Many’ without whose tireless work on the ground victory would not have been possible and discover how technology, leadership and courage forged victory allowing Britain’s darkest hour to also be her Finest Hour.

Accessibility

• The Museum is entirely step-free. There is a lift to reach the lower floor • There are two wheelchairs available at the Museum which can be borrowed. • All door openings are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. • The paths in the garden are gravel with a special membrane which supports wheelchair use • There is seating throughout the gallery spaces. • The Museum has two self-guided audio described tours - one tour for adults and one for families, cost included in admission

Toilets

• All public toilets are located on the lower ground floor and can be accessed by stairs or by lift. • There is one unisex accessible toilet with an emergency pull cord. • There are men’s and women’s toilets with baby change areas.

Staff, and a number of front of house volunteers, have received visual awareness training and deaf awareness training.
