Working with Dynamic Earth on Their Community Workshop Space
We were recently invited with our Ambassadors to visit our friends at Dynamic Earth for a consultation with Fran, their Senior Community Learning and Engagement Officer, to help the Edinburgh venue staff design their new community workshop space.
On arrival we went straight to the space to be used for the community workshops so we could see what we were working with in terms of size and dimension. Then we headed to the boardroom to put our ideas down on paper.
The team at Dynamic Earth wants the space to be a protected, intentional area for their community partners, and they’re involving partners right from the very start to make sure their voices incorporated in the planning and design phases of the project.
Euan’s Guide Ambassadors Karine and Sarah attended the consultation session with our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Claire. Karine said: “It was a privilege to be asked to take part in the consultation. To be an advocate for accessibility is so important and Dynamic Earth take our considerations seriously and are open to hearing suggestions.
“Sarah and I like to be involved in events like this as we have living experience as to the difficulties if something is not accessible. By taking part in events like this, we can help make something easier for people in the future.
“To consult with a venue that is actively interested in accessibility is brilliant and this kind of forward planning ensures that everyone can benefit from changes.”
We’re looking forward to seeing what happens next! Stay tuned for another update as soon as we have it.
Meanwhile, check out our reviews of Dynamic Earth and another blog post on our VIP tour last summer.
