At Euan’s Guide, we celebrate and recognise our work with partnership organisations; the more organisations that support disabled people, the more we can combine our resources and knowledge to make the world a more accessible place. Ahead of World Cerebral Palsy Day, Sunday 6 October, we’d like to celebrate our relationship with CP Scotland by sharing how we’ve been working together.

Working Together: Euan’s Guide and Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Our partnership with Cerebral Palsy Scotland began in Glasgow about four years ago. In October 2020 we attended our first Cerebral Palsy Scotland Annual Conference as an exhibitor looking to spread the word about our small but mighty charity, and the CP Scotland conference was a brilliant way to reach more people who are looking to find and share disabled access information. Since then, we’ve been working with CP Scotland by coordinating events together to offer support to each other’s community.

Following last year’s conference, we began to explore the possibility of working more closely together. We set up an online event about how to review Euan’s Guide.com and how to find disabled access information that is relevant to everyone’s access requirements. This event allowed us to reach several volunteers who were passionate about improving disabled access and wanted to share their stories.

Sharing Knowledge and Information

Fast forward to March 2024, when we celebrated Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. The theme was ‘what you would like people to know about cerebral palsy’, so we invited our volunteers to share their personal experiences of some of the challenges and positive aspects of disabled access when you have cerebral palsy. The event was a real success and helped to raise awareness for both organisations.

Euan’s Guide at Coffee Connections

Most recently, we were invited along to the Cerebral Palsy Scotland centre for a small coffee morning with people who attend the centre, and their families and friends, which was intended to raise awareness around the issues that matter to people with cerebral palsy.

We were delighted to tell people about Euan’s Guide and let them know more about how we can help people with cerebral palsy to get out and about with confidence, with the reassurance that they have first-hand information about the places they are visiting from people with shared experiences of disabled access.

Cerebral Palsy Conference 2024

We’re pleased and proud to continue our partnership with CP Scotland, and we’re so excited to be exhibiting at the Cerebral Palsy Scotland conference again this year, on Wednesday 2 October. We’ll be there to speak to guests and other exhibitors about our small but mighty charity, how we can help disabled people find great places to go, and chat about the possibility of volunteering or reviewing disabled access with us. We’re looking forward to meeting people in person - if you are there come and say hi!
