What is Disabled Access Day?
Disabled Access Day is all about trying something or somewhere new, whether that’s a local coffee shop, cinema, sports centre or anywhere else! This year the event will take place on 12th March and we’d love you to get involved and visit somewhere new with your friends and/or family!
There are lots of exciting events, activities and offers going on across the UK with over 100 venues already signed up, from British Sign Language tours to discounted entrance fees to assisted theatre performances – we hope there is something for everyone!
Plus we are pleased that selected Caffè Nero, Barclays and Strada stores are on board too! So on 12th March you can treat yourself to a complementary dessert (with a main meal purchase) at Strada* or take a break at Caffè Nero* and have a hand crafted coffee on the house before trying out some of accessible banking facilities available at Barclays.
We’re sure that as we get closer to the day there will be lots more exciting activities and businesses signing up to take part too, so keep checking the Disabled Access Day website!
How do I find out what’s on near me?
Head over to the Disabled Access Day website and take a look at our ‘What’s On’ page. On there you will see an event search where you can look to see which places near you are involved. You can also search for specific places if you want to see if a certain venue has signed up. We are working with Euan’s Guide to list events so you can easily find access information alongside event information, hopefully making it easy for you to plan your day!
With so many things to choose from it might be difficult to decide what to do on the day! Whatever your plans let us know by tweeting us using @Access_Day and #AccessDay or share your plans on our Facebook page – we’d love to hear what you’ll be doing!
Make sure you sign up as well to keep up to date with everything that’s going on!
I have a suggestion, how can I let you know?
If you have an idea for a venue that you’d like to see involved in Disabled Access Day we’d love to hear it! You can let us know my emailing takepart@disabledaccessday.com, sending us a tweet using #AccessDayIdea or calling us on 0131 510 5106.
