‘The owners could not do enough to help us enjoy our two weeks in Cornwall. They provided in advance a great deal of information about accessibility in nearby resorts and places to visit. They had gone to the trouble of checking all of the local pubs and restaurants to do this. The Moat House Annan, Annan

This bright and spacious holiday cottage is located on the edge of Annan, a bustling little town with independent shops and cafes in the Scottish Borders. With a huge kitchen and oversized dining table, you can entertain a large group of people beside a cosy fireplace! The owners have fitted a lift between the floors of the house and the kitchen has been adapted with a rise and fall sink, worktop and induction hob unit. 

‘We haven’t found anywhere else with such good disabled facilities, including commode chair, electric beds, fully accessible bathroom and wheelchair friendly terrain throughout. Ropers Walk Barns, Truro

Located on a small working farm, Ropers Walk Barns are an ideal place to escape the elements in Cornwall. With under floor heating, timber doors and warm towel rails; you’ll probably forget it’s winter! The Corn Store property has a lift between the floors of the former barn, and you can spot St. Agnes Beacon and Carn Brea Ancient Monument from the feature windows.

The Hollies, Appleby-in-Westmorland

The owners of this Victorian lodge have renovated the attached museum into a self-catering lodge to sleep seven. The adjoining house is a B&B where you are welcome to join the other guests for a Westmorland breakfast! The garden is a woodland environment with an abundance of birds – perfect for spotting robins on frosty mornings!

‘The lodge has been very thoughtfully designed with wheelchair users and those with mobility needs in mind. There is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom has low level fittings and plenty of hand rails and is a wet room. The Hytte, Hexham

Built in the style of a mountain lodge, this grass-roofed building has underfloor heating and a sauna making it an ideal place to warm up over winter. The owners even make sure you’ve got a welcome gift waiting for you when you arrive!

‘The Hytte is single story with wooden floors throughout so is ideal for people who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
