Euan’s Guide is taking part in The 2.6 Challenge
What is The 2.6 Challenge?
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has left many charities suffering from reduced levels of funding – and Euan’s Guide is no exception. The 2.6 Challenge launches this Sunday, 26th April, on what should have been the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event. With the marathon cancelled, this UK-wide campaign is designed to help us all come together to raise vital funds to help to save the UK’s charities.
Anyone can take part by choosing a challenge based around the number 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to support Euan’s Guide.
Most people are taking part from Sunday 26th April, but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you.
How can I take part?
There are just five simple steps to take:
1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge – read on for some ideas from us
2. Head to our fundraising page to donate £2.60, £26, or whatever you can afford, to Euan’s Guide
3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
4. Complete your challenge
5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media using #TwoPointSixChallenge and #EuansGuide to let people know you’ve chosen to support us.
Some ideas
This is a challenge for all ages and abilities, not just marathon runners! All you need to do is think of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 that suits your skills and complete it on or from Sunday 26th April.
You could pledge to travel 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, do 26 pull-ups or dribble a basketball for 26 minutes (or maybe just 2.6 minutes).
Challenge your brain by reciting the 26 times table or by writing and reciting a 26-line poem. Provide a service for others by holding a virtual quiz with 26 questions or giving a 26-minute virtual tutorial on a subject of your choice.
There are no rules, apart from following the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. And don’t worry if you’re not able to get out your house or flat right now – you can set yourself a 2.6 challenge you can do indoors!
The main thing is to have fun and pledge whatever you can to help support Euan’s Guide and our work to help improve disabled access across the UK.
Why we need your support
As a disabled access charity, we aim to make it easier for disabled people to find great places to go. Your support helps ensure we can continue to operate the disabled access review website which is used by thousands of people across the UK. You’ll also be supporting our work encouraging venues to improve their disabled access and our lifesaving Red Cord Cards, which help to improve the safety of accessible toilets across the UK.
Whatever you choose to do for The 2.6 Challenge, we’d like to thank you for being part of our team.
When it is safe to go out and about again, we want to be here to help you easily find accessible places to go.
Check back for updates!
Euan’s Guide team members and our Ambassadors are taking part in their own 2.6 challenges, later this week we’ll be sharing their plans with you to give you more inspiration of what you could do! Alternatively, if you decide not to take part, you could still offer us your vital support by making a one-off or regular donation.
