Mother's Day Suggestions

Mother’s Day is fast approaching. And this year we’re asking for your help!

We’ve conducted a very unscientific poll to find out what restaurants some of our users, colleagues, friends and family would suggest for Mothering Sunday lunch across the UK.

We’ve picked at random one restaurant from each of the following locations: Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Belfast & Cardiff.

From what we’ve been told, we think that all these restaurants have good disabled access and an accessible loo… But this is where you, our users, come in! If you’ve been to any of these restaurants please review them & recommend them to others… 

(PS if you haven’t yet booked your Mother’s Day lunch or dinner then these venues all have at least one table still available at time of writing!)

Leeds - Crafthouse. Billed as "A unique dining atmosphere in the heart of Leeds” Crafthouse is situated on Boar Street, They have a Mother’s Day set menu priced at £35 per person for three courses and features tempting options including Bridlington crab and Confit duck leg before (our favourite in the office) sticky toffee pudding. http://www.crafthouse-restaurant.com/offers/mothers-day/

Liverpool - Fazenda. Fazenda looks like every meat lover’s dream! The restaurant serves ‘the finest meat served in the traditional Gaucho style’ and the menu features continuous table side service of fifteen different prime cuts (seven at lunchtime) of meat including beef, chicken, pork and lamb. As a further incentive (although we’re not sure that you’d need one!) they’re offering all mothers a dessert of their choice on Sunday. http://fazenda.co.uk/liverpool/

Manchester - James Martin. This restaurant is a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy with its fabulous decor. The menus feature tantalisingly delicious sounding Thai crab risotto, British Wagyu beef and pan fried Stonebass. Vegetarian’s are also well catered for - we like the sound of the deep-fried soft boiled hen’s egg with wild mushrooms on toast and truffle mayonnaise… And that’s just a starter! http://jamesmartinmanchester.co.uk/

London - The Modern Pantry. The Modern Pantry is in London’s Clerkenwell and features both a cafe and a more formal restaurant. The menu has wine recommendations for many of the dishes for a complete culinary experience. If you can’t get there in person then then have a great online store featuring some delicious sauces, jams and some fabulous hampers… Breakfast in Bed hamper anyone? http://www.themodernpantry.co.uk/

Birmingham - Marco Pierre White Steakhouse. Looking for an ultra modern 25th floor dining experience? Complete with rooftop terrace and views across the city? This is the place! There are both a la carte and table d’hôte menus - both of which feature lots of delicious dishes, and as the name would suggest, the steaks on the menu look simply divine! http://www.mpwsteakhousebirmingham.co.uk/

Edinburgh - 20 Princes Street Grill and Smokehouse. 20 Princes Street opened in Summer 2013 and has just been awarded ‘Best New Restaurant in Scotland’. There are fabulous views of the Edinburgh skyline from the restaurant and the Mother’s Day menu features Scottish produce including Aberdeenshire beef, Perthshire venison and West Coast scallops. http://www.twentyprincesstreet.co.uk/

Glasgow - The Corinthian Club. This stylish venue in the heart of Glasgow won The British Design Awards‘ Best British Interior Design award in 2011. The Mother’s Day menu is great value at £20 for three courses. Our choices would be the Salmon and dill fishcake followed by the Crispy skinned chicken breast with dauphinoise potato and, again, we’d be going for sticky toffee pudding to finish!

Aberdeen - The Bothy Restaurant at The Palm Court Hotel. The Palm Court Hotel has just undergone a multi million point refurbishment and part of this is The Bothy Restaurant. The Mother’s Day menu is £24.95 per person and features some great Scottish produce including Grampian chicken and Aberdeenshire beef. In the summer you can also dine al fresco on their heated decking… http://www.thepalmcourthotel.com/

Belfast - Cutters Wharf. Cutters Wharf says it’s the ‘comfiest restaurant in the city’ and features large windows and some al fresco dining for when it’s warmer. The (very pink) Mother’s Day menu is £16.95 for two courses or £19.95 for three and features choices such as Crispy popcorn shrimp and Roast eye of silverside… Yum!  http://www.cutterswharf.co.uk/

Cardiff - Miller & Carter Steakhouse. Our final steakhouse recommendation, Miller & Carter has its full menu avaialbe for Mother’s Day. They recommend the 28-day aged fillet or a Chateaubriand to share and suggest pairing it with their Argentinean Malbec. If you can’t get there on the day they are also able to do a gift card for your next visit. http://www.millerandcarter.co.uk/
