What’s on in March and April
I don’t know about you but I feel like March is going really quickly and Easter doesn’t feel far away! I'm back to share more upcoming virtual events we thought you might be interested in. If you have any other events you’d like to share you can tell everyone about them on our forum!
The events are listed in date order and cover the rest of March as well as some events to look forward to in April.
Dream
On now until Saturday 20th March
Enjoy this live, virtual performance from the comfort of your home. Inspired by Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' this experience includes a 25 minute performance set in a midsummer forest as well as a pre-show Dream Lobby and a post-show backstage tour and Q&A.
Live captions provided by Stagetext are available for all performances. A pre-recorded BSL interpreted or audio-described version of the performance will be available on request. Visit Dream's access page for more information.
There are two ticketing options, one is free and the other is £10. The paid for ticket gives you the chance to interact with the performance and influence the outcome.
Hippodrome Silent Film Festival
On now until Sunday 21st March
This is the 10th instalment of the Bo’ness silent film festival and this year it is all going to be virtual. The programme includes 10 feature films as well as talks, tours and post-screening Q&As. All of the festival’s content is captioned in English. Any dialogue in the silent movies will appear as text on screen in English. The post-screening Q&As will be BSL interpreted as well as having live captioning.
To access the festival’s programme of events you can purchase a Festival Pass. This gives you unlimited access to all screenings and events. The Festival Pass costs £20 or £5 for concessions.
Hippodrome Silent Film Festival

We like the look of this virtual tour of the Hippodrome, Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema, which first opened in 1912! Discover more about this fascinating building and how it has been restored and adapted over the years.
WOW UK
On now until Sunday 21st March
WOW (Women of the World) has a special digital programme running in March this year to mark International Women’s Day. All the ‘In Conversations’ events will be BLS Interpreted and captioned (this does not apply to the workshops). Unfortunately many of the great events have already taken place but there is still a chance to catch some of the final events before the virtual festival ends. And you might still be able to catch some that you missed as all the events are available on demand for seven days! Tickets for the events start from just £1.

When: Wednesday 17th March at 8:00 pm (available for seven days)
Ruby Wax is joined by Fearne Cotton for an hour of optimism with a guided meditation and to discuss Ruby’s new book, 'And Now For The Good News'.

Poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib introduces his new book, 'A Little Devil in America', which is made up of a collection of Hanif’s original essays on Black performance.
Sunday 28th March at 7:30 pm (available for seven days)
Out-Spoken is hosted by Joelle Taylor, with sets from poets Jay Bernard and Caleb Femi, and music from singer-songwriter Mysie and Sam 'Junior' Bromfield.
Kazuo & Naomi Ishiguro in Conversation
Monday 5th April at 7:30 pm (available for seven days)
Father and daughter Kazuo and Naomi Ishiguro come together for their first joint event to discuss their newly published novels and writing across the generations.
Friday 30th April at 7:30 pm (available for seven days)
Author Olivia Laing discusses her new work of non-fiction, 'Everybody' – a book about liberation and the body.

On The National Gallery’s website you can find a range of online events which can easily be filtered to show you accessible events and events for families or young people. This includes free talks and tours.

This free event will be hosted on Zoom with Caroline Smith and Anna Murray discussing George Stubbs' 'The Milbanke and Melbourne Families'.

Another free Zoom event from the ‘Art through Words’ series. This time Marc Woodhead and Christina Bradstreet will describe Edouard Vuillard's 'The Mantelpiece (La Cheminée)'.
