International Day of Charity - Euan's Guide

On International Day of Charity we’d like to take the opportunity to remind our friends and followers that we’re a small charity. We rely on voluntary income so we can continue our work in making it easier, safer and more rewarding for disabled people to find and visit accessible places.

Many people don’t actually know we’re a charity, so today seems like a good day to let people know!

We’re probably best known for our disabled access review website EuansGuide.com, which has thousands of visitors every month looking for trusted disabled access information so they can find great places to go with less stress. We’re hugely grateful to our volunteers and ambassadors for supporting us. We know that 91% of disabled people try to find disabled access information about a new place before visiting, and over 50% say that reviews from other disabled people improve their confidence when visiting somewhere new.

We’ve also made over 125,000 accessible toilets safer through our Red Cord Card scheme. Our pocket-sized, splash-proof notice in easy-to-read font raise awareness of safety in accessible toilets and slide easily onto red emergency cords to let people know they should hang freely to the ground.

We run the UK’s largest access survey, supported by Motability Operations. We’re proud to have seen the Access Survey and its participants featured in national titles including The Guardian, The Huffington Post, The Independent, as well as on national TV and radio, like Channel 5 News, Good Morning Britain and the BBC.

Euan’s Guide was set up in 2013 by Euan MacDonald and his sister Kiki, after Euan was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. Euan, his family, and all the team would be grateful for any support you can offer to help us continue our work in making it easier, safer and more rewarding for disabled people to find and visit accessible places.

Donate what you can to help us continue our work to make it easier, safer and more rewarding for disabled people, their friends, families and carers to find and visit accessible places.
