Grab a slice on National Pizza Day!
It was first invented in Naples, Italy as a fast, affordable tasty meal for locals to eat on-the-go. Pizza is one of the most satisfying comfort foods and people will go out their way to source the best ones. That flattened disk of bread dough traditionally topped with smooth tomato, a generous heap of cheese and any toppings you can get your hands on is enough to have your mouth watering.
We thought we’d celebrate National Pizza Day by spotlighting five pizza places on Euan’s Guide! Get your knife and fork ready… or just pick it up and tuck in!
@pizza, Edinburgh
This central pizza joint in Edinburgh is often voted as one of the best in Edinburgh with their unique approach to pizza. Our reviewer karine1985 said “it sounds like magic and it tastes like it too … delicious pizza with any topping you can imagine, made in 90 seconds.” Sounds great, right? Quick pizza!
You can watch staff make the pizza right in front of your very eyes in @pizza’s traditional oval shape and they are super friendly. Our reviewer smithling said they are “the best of the best, couldn’t have been friendlier.”
There’s a mix of seating within their spacious interior and even charging points at tables! Our reviewers do say the pizzas are scrumptious and there are vegan friendly options too! You might want to plan your visit to @pizza soon. Check out the reviews on Euan’s Guide.

Bacaro, Liverpool
Bacaro is an authentic Venetian restaurant in the heart of Liverpool, near The Cavern Club, dishing up small plates. You will find an eclectic choice of toppings on a variety of their ‘pizzettes’, with the opportunity to enjoy their authentic Italian cooking.
When our reviewer Karen visited, there was “great food” but it was also “very accessible”. There’s a small step at the entrance where the “helpful and friendly” staff will bring out a portable ramp to get you in and out of the venue.
Pizza Punks, Glasgow
Pizza Punks is one of those places you will visit once then return again and again. That is exactly what our reviewer simplyemma did after sampling their “awesome” vegan pizza.
This pizza place is also very centrally located in Glasgow and is wheelchair accessible with a portable ramp. Simplyemma said: “The staff made sure I felt comfortable. Both visits, staff were very friendly and welcoming.”
You can create your own pizza at Pizza Punks and add as many toppings as you want at no extra cost. Yes, that means unlimited toppings!

Franco Manca, London
Franco Manca has become an institution for serving pizza in London – so much so they had to branch out to other areas of the UK. But the flagship locations in London have people travelling far and wide to sample their pepperoni.
Nearby the Southwark and Waterloo stations, there is outdoor seating at Franco Manca. If you want to dine indoors, however, staff will bring out a sturdy ramp and everything is on one level once you’re inside. Staff are “polite and charming” and will make your visit a “really big success.”
Our reviewer squirrelpot said: “Lovely staff, delicious food, full step-free access throughout, and an excellent accessible toilet. Strongly recommended and five stars richly deserved.”
La Pizza Cresci, Nice
We wouldn’t blame you if you planned your holiday around National Pizza Day. You could go to Italy and sample all the pizza you can handle in the land of its origin or you could go to Nice in France and check out La Pizza Cresci, a pizzeria serving “huge, very filling and very tasty” half pizzas.
You can dine inside or al fresco and watch the world go by. Our reviewer TinaHodgkinson said: “The outside seating was at street level and therefore step free. There were plenty of free-standing table and chairs. It was the first time I visited and I was impressed with the quality of the food, good service, reasonably priced and it has a nice ambiance.”
