Global MND Awareness Day 2024

Our founder, Euan MacDonald, has been living with Motor Neuron Disease for twenty years - he was just 29 when he was diagnosed. Since then, he's worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people living with MND and related conditions, whilst also raising awareness of the importance of disabled access information.

Euan is asking our community to share their experiences and leave a disabled access review on EuansGuide.com this MND Awareness Day to help us make it easier, safer and more rewarding for disabled people to find and visit accessible places, with confidence.

He'd also like to share some news and messages from the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research at the University of Edinburgh, the MND Association, and MND Scotland.

Euan's research into Motor Neuron Disease

Did you know that Euan set up a Motor Neuron Disease research centre with his father after he was diagnosed with MND?

The Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research is based at the University of Edinburgh. The MND clinical trial, MND-SMART, now has over 400 participants.

You can find out more about the EMC, the scientists who work there, and the research into MND on the website. There are also stories from the Centre's supporters along with Euan's own story, and how he set up the Euan MacDonald Centre.

MND Guarantee

Our friends at the MND Association are asking for people's support of the MND Guarantee, a campaign that asks MP candidates to champion people living with MND and their carers.

There's a quick form to help you get started with an email to your MP to ask them to commit to supporting people living with and affected by MND.

You'll also find stories from the MND Association's community on the website, where you'll hear from Martyn, Sarah and Tracy about their experiences with MND.

The ice bucket challenge is 10!

A decade after the ice bucket challenge went viral, MND Scotland is asking its supporters to get involved again this year to raise vital funds for MND research.

In 2014, the ice bucket challenge raised £500,000 for MND Scotland, which has been used to fund research and support people in Scotland living with MND.

This year, MND Scotland is supporting a range of activities to remember the ice bucket challenge and raise vital funds. One supporter, Greg Proctor, is taking on a daily ice bucket throughout 2024 in memory of his dad who passed away from MND.
