Focus on the Forum - April 2021

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and managing to get outside bit more. What did everyone do over Easter? Did you have an Easter egg hunt in the garden or in your local park?

In the April Focus on the Forum blog, we have lots of exciting things to share with you as venues and events gradually open again.

Outdoors

This month from the beginning of April the National Trust will be reopening most of its properties throughout the UK. For a full list of opening times and venues near you head over to the other things to do section of the forum. Staying on an outdoor activity theme Scotland's virtual Kiltwalk takes place this year on the weekend of the 23rd to the 25th of April. This event is happening virtually this year which means that you can walk any distance that you would like within your local area. You can either walk by yourself or as part of a family team. This is a great opportunity to raise vital funds for your favourite charity and any money that you raise will be matched by 50% in the Hunter foundation. Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk

With brighter Spring and Summer days ahead the UKs National Garden Scheme is in full bloom! All private garden owners are happy to discuss access requirements. So why not take a look on the website and see if you can find a garden that is open near you. Many gardens also open with the proceeds of any donations going to charities. Reading

In our what to read action we have details of a digital children's book festival being held by the Wigton book festival. This event is taking place online this year so you can sit back and relax and enjoy some of your favourite books from the comfort of your own home! In our virtual events section, there are some details of some dementia friendly events that are being hosted by capital theatres in Edinburgh. These events are also online events and include things like a virtual book club, virtual afternoon tea events and online theatre events for people and their families who are affected by dementia. Arts

Also in the virtual events section, Shape Arts have released a virtual reality art exhibition showing the work of different artists in different virtual rooms. To find out more about this project click on the link below.

Unlimited Connects Scotland is hosting a free virtual event which displays the work of disabled actors and producers from across Scotland. This event takes place on the 19th April, for more information head over to the virtual events section of the forum by clicking on the link below.
