February Reviews to read

Hello! and welcome to the February review roundup. We have lots of exciting reviews to share with you in February; from outdoor activity centres to places to stay both at home and abroad. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken time this month to share a review. It's by sharing your experiences that you help other people to have the confidence to try something new.

Places to Stay

We have had some excellent reviews of different places to stay around the UK and beyond. DMH reviewed Grand Hôtel des Bains in Switzerland, giving it a five star rating. ‘Hotel had wheelchair accessible rooms which were of a reasonable size with wet shower rooms. Lift access throughout’ Grand Hôtel des Bains Switzerand  this sounds like a great place to stay if you're exploring the local area.

Slightly closer to home in Newport on Tay FionaKay61 reviewed the Coachouse which is part of Sandford country cottages were she stayed with her husband. ‘The house is absolutely fantastic an totally accessible’. ‘My husband is totally wheelchair dependant and requires full hoist’. The Coachouse Newport on Tay FifeFiona and her husband took their own hoist on holiday, but said that Evelyn, the owner was extremely helpful with anything that they needed. 

Another great review came from heelswheelsanddogs who spoke about her first visit to the Union Jack Club hotel since becoming a wheelchair user.‘The room featured two single beds that had been put together to make a king size bed, each bed had its own independent control to raise it at the head and/or foot end. The windows opened automatically and the curtains closed at the touch of a button.’ This sounds like a great place to stay if you're travelling on your own. There are also some pictures included with this review to show the full accessibility of the hotel.

Things to do

Many of our reviewers have been out and about visiting different places and taking part in different activities. Here are a selection from February. M Stirling gave Elizabeth house five stars where he attends activity sessions run by kingdom Kids. Kingdom kids at Elizabeth house Kirkcaldy ‘Easy entrance. There are stairs and good signage.”

RhiHowe reviewed Carsington water reservoir, giving it a five star rating. It is an area werefamilies can go and enjoy some outdoor fun together. ‘This is a great place to go with the family for some fresh air.There are accessible paths to go around the reservoir, a nature observation hut, restaurant, shops and a  playground as well as plenty of picnic areas.” 

Finnberries shared a five star review of a family day out at Anglesey Abbey and gardens. “We passed loads of mobility scooters too and people using transit chairs. There are three marked trails.” ‘The restaurant also looked busy but they were seating people and their system was quick and efficient’
