EuansGuide.com launches disabled access venue locator and reviews app
Mobile app allows disabled people and their friends and families to find nearby accessible venues and share reviews on the go
28th April 2014, Edinburgh – EuansGuide.com, the disabled access reviews website, today launches a free mobile app to assist disabled people find nearby venues with good accessibility.
The app, which is available on both iOS and Android, adapts to work alongside existing native accessibility tools, including voice input and voiceover technology[DL1] .
Users can locate and submit reviews of the 600+ venues already listed on EuansGuide.com, and also review new locations.
Using either a manual search or the GPS enabled “Near Me” option for users who are on-the-go, searches can be tailored to individual preferences with thoroughly comprehensive filtering criteria. This lets users identify venues based on the content of a review, venue type and facilities, and specific accessibility features – for example, whether the venue has been reviewed by a powerchair user.
Additional features include large size buttons and optimised colours and fonts for people with low vision; registration and management of your profile; and updates on the latest news concerning disabled access.
On the launch of the mobile app Euan MacDonald, Founder of EuansGuide.com, commented: “The website was created to allow people to share practical first-hand knowledge of venues that is otherwise difficult to find out before visiting. The new mobile app marks the next step in helping people to feel assured when visiting new places; it is my hope that the GPS capability will inspire freedom and impulsiveness amongst disabled people, as this is not always easy when faced with accessibility issues”.
To download the app, please visit: the iTunes Store or Google's Play Store.
