Welcome to the December Review Roundup. We can't believe that it's the end of another amazing year at Euan’s Guide. It has been a year full of lots of amazing achievements but also the heartbreak of losing our Co-Founder, Euan. Thanks to our volunteers we can continue to share his legacy and honour his determination to help disabled people and their families and friends find and share great accessible places to go. Thank you to everyone who has continued to review and a huge welcome to everyone who is here for the first time. We couldn't do what we do without you.

Places to Visit

Hoggy67 has shared a really interesting review of his first visit to The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow as a wheelchair user. Thank you for sharing your four-star review and we are delighted that you had a positive experience. Highlights are that the staff were ‘all extremely helpful and friendly’ there is also some really helpful feedback in the review around accessibility for wheelchair users in the accessible seating area.

Dystrophydad visited Cairn Lodge Services on his way to Newcastle and gave it a four-star rating. There is also a Changing Places toilet available for anyone who needs it, and a family toilet available for those families travelling with young children.

JustJules has been visiting the Munch Art Museum in Oslo, giving it afour-star rating in this review. JustJeules mentions a particular highlight for her was ‘the layout of Edvard Munch's house, which was full of fascinating things to explore. Of course, the star of the show was The Scream. You can see a print, a painting, and a drawing of it, rotated every 30 minutes— you can easily pop back to see them all during your visit.’ In this review JustJules also mentions the overall accessibility of the city. ‘Overall, I found Oslo to be very flat and accessible, and I saw lots of powerchair and wheelchair users out and about in the city.’

Places to eat

Dohmar has sent us a review of Irlam railway station in Manchester. With a four-star review rating this looks a great place to go for lunch if you are in the area.

Dohmar mentions that the venue is ‘Fab and friendly place with good access and facilities. Home-cooked food is great too.It is located on a train station which is being upgraded for disabled access.’ The reviewer also gives some feedback to the venue with regards to access to the toilets which is helpful for them to know so that they can possibly improve. Overall it seems to have been a really positive and enjoyable visit.

TinaHodgekinson Visited the Honey and Co Daily restaurant in London. Tina visited this restaurant with a friend who is a wheelchair user and so has included her friend’s comments in the review as well. Dinner mentioned in her review the high quality of the food within the restaurant. ‘The food is amazing. I had a vegan Christmas pumpkin and cranberry on sourdough sandwich, which was a fabulous selection of flavours. My friend had a bun. I think it was the Bloomsbury bun. Then we shared a butternut squash and pecan cake, which was outstanding.’ In terms of accessibility the restaurant and staff receive the high rating as well. ‘Highly recommend with great food, service and ambiance. Also it's accessible and comfortable. Will definitely return.’

Review of the month. This month the review of the month is the review of Irlam Railway station. It sounds a great experience to have lunch with family and friends by having lunch in a train carriage! Thank you Dohmar for sharing your experience.
