Celebrating World Cerebral Palsy Day 2023
Friday 6 October 2023 is World Cerebral Palsy Day, which celebrates over 17 million people worldwide who have CP. There are a further 350 million friends and family members who are closely connected to someone who has Cerebral Palsy.
In the UK, according to disability charity Scope, one in 400 children are diagnosed every year with Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral palsy is the most common disability in childhood however, it is recognised as a long-term condition which affects the person during their lifetime, affecting movement and posture. Alongside these two main features, people with CP may also experience problems with vision, hearing, speech, epilepsy, and learning disability.
On Tuesday 3 October, Euan’s Guide teamed up with Cerebral Palsy Scotland to be part of their conference and information day for people with Cerebral Palsy, their families and friends. The event is supported by Digby Brown. If you would like to find out what support is available for people with cerebral palsy in Scotland, then please visit the Cerebral palsy Scotland website
We were delighted to join forces with other charities and organisations, and to have the opportunity to tell people more about our work. The day was very busy and we really enjoyed being able to chat to existing volunteers and reviewers, and also to meet new volunteers. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to come over to our stand and talk to us to find out how they can get involved with Euan’s Guide. We really enjoyed meeting everyone!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Cerebral Palsy Scotland for inviting us to be part of the annual conference again this year.
If you would like to find out more about our work and the different ways in which you can volunteer with us, then please do get in touch, either by email at hello@euansguide.com or call us on 0131 510 5106.
