Accessible things to do for Easter 2019!

It’s finally spring - if you’re looking for something fun and accessible to do in between painting eggs and eating chocolate, we’ve got a few ideas for you to try!

Celebrate Spring

Gardens become a real treat for the senses in spring – see and smell the flowers, listen to the birds and feel the warmth of the sun for the first time in months! Favourite gardens on Euan’s Guide include the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, University Botanical Garden in Cambridge and Beth Chatto Gardens in Colchester.

Hunt for Easter Eggs

A classic Easter activity is hunting for Easter treats! Barnsdale Gardens will be running an Easter treasure hunt all weekend from 09:00 to 17:00 along with gardening sessions with experts. Other gardens taking part include the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and Dawyck.

For a slightly different Easter egg hunting experience, celebrate the Mini’s 60th birthday by hunting for Easter eggs at the British Motor Museum! The themed celebrations promise to be both fun and educational, celebrating Easter and a truly iconic piece of British design. Follow the ‘Mini Trail’, meet costumed characters and design your own Mini!

The Royal Yacht Britannia is also running an Easter Egg hunt this year, but with a twist! You won’t just be looking for Easter treats – there’s a cuddly Corgi toy somewhere on the Yacht for you to find too!

Try somewhere new with family

If you would prefer something indoors, there are accessible performances running at theatres across the UK on the Easter Weekend. For example, the Piccadilly Theatre in London has a relaxed performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

The Deep in Hull are running Easter events throughout the holidays – join them on a whodunnit trail around the aquarium this Easter! There’s also penguin feeding, dive shows and touch pool sessions to look forward to!

Fairytale Farm in Chipping Norton are also running a range of events in April including petting opportunities with rabbits and guinea pigs, cookie decorating and a chance to meet the animated Mother Goose and her friends. You can also meet the Easter Bunny on Easter weekend!
