Whatever your income or wealth, if you are over 18 then having a written will ensures your wishes are clearly understood and respected. It gives you peace of mind that your estate is taken care of and your loved ones will be provided for when you are no longer around. It also gives you the opportunity to consider how you might influence the world for future generations, by remembering in your will those charities that matter most to you.
Euan’s Guide is a charity working to make the world accessible to all. We do this by providing access information, making accessible toilets safer and by raising awareness of the everyday discrimination disabled people often face, but we cannot do this without donations and voluntary support.
If you are thinking about writing or updating your will the first step could be to speak to your solicitor and if you or your partner are 55 or over, you might want to consider speaking with one of the participating solicitors in the national Free Will Month that takes place in March and October each year. To find out more about the Free Will Month campaign visit their dedicated website.
If you are considering a gift to Euan’s Guide, your solicitor will need to know our name, Euan’s Guide, our charity number, SC045492 and our address CodeBase, 38 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH3 9DR as well as the type of gift you want to leave.
We understand that making a will is deeply personal and needs to be done in your own time. You don’t need to tell us if you decide to leave a gift in your will to Euan’s Guide and we respect your rights to privacy and to changing your mind. If you do choose to tell us, we would be delighted and, if you would like us to, we can keep you up to date on our work.
Of course, there is no expectation that you would leave a gift to Euan’s Guide but any gift you feel able to leave, after you've made preparations for your loved ones, can help us make the world a more accessible place.
